What is Wahnam Taijiquan?

In life, for some reason, most of us think that we are happy when we are in a static, familar environment. If we do the same thing every single day, year after year, although we may be physically alive, our spirts would fall into a deep sleep. Ironically, when we are in an unfamilar environment that is filled with movement, we become suddenly disturbed or unsettled. Most of us resist change. Taijiquan is the art of addressing this constant change and learning to become at peace with constant movement; so much so that our spirit becomes alive and daily living becomes a constant experience of flow and joy. This is Wahnam Taijiquan.

How can Wahnam Taijiquan benefit us in daily life?

The essence of taijiquan is to move in complete harmony where the mind is not disturbed by movement or change. This principle can be applied even in a confrontational setting. Wahnam Taijiquan enables the practitioner to develop "still mind in harmony of movement" no matter what the situation is, be it returning damaged goods to a store; being struck by another car while driving; taming a wild, drunk, unhappy youth in a parking lot at night; or dealing with the death of a loved one.

What are the benefits of Wahnam Taijiquan?

Some benefits of Wahnam Taijiquan are that it enables the diligent practitioner to:

  1. heal her/himself (physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually)
  2. maintain above-average vitality for daily living
  3. skillfully manage stress so that one's life is enhanced, rather than burdened
  4. protect her/his physical, emotional and mental space, as well as protecting her/his life and the lives of others
  5. experience genuine joy and interest in daily living

What is the difference between Taijiquan, Shaolin

Kungfu, & Shaolin Cosmos Chi Kung?

Taijiquan is an extension of Chi Kung. When one becomes a Taijiquan master, one becomes a master of energy flow.

Essentially, chi kung is the art of energy management (i.e. improving energy flow & increasing the amount of energy within the body). Taijiquan is the art of mastering flow. Kungfu is the art of mastering force. While each can be defined as having their distinct emphases, it is also important to remember that they are ultimately focussed on the same thing: learning how to live a life of balance, joy and freedom. One could say that they are merely manifestations of the same thing; in the same way that water is able to manifest in solid, liquid, or gaseous form.
