Shaolin Arts
Sifu Emiko Hsuen first began learning martial arts at the age of eleven. She trained in various styles under well-established masters, until finally meeting her current master, 4th-generation successor to the Shaolin arts from the southern Shaolin Monastery, Grandmaster Wong Kiew Kit. Sifu Hsuen has been studying under him since 2000 and is honoured to be one of his inner-chamber disciples. She is certified to teach Shaolin Cosmos Chi Kung, Shaolin Kungfu and Wahnam Taijiquan. Sifu Hsuen is also the Chief Instructor for Shaolin Kungfu in Canada.
Chi Kung (Qigong)
The first person to introduce Sifu Hsuen to chi kung was Dr. Wei Zhang, a doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Sifu Hsuen later learned '20 Postures Qigong' from Master Helen Xiao Rong Wu, who had received it from her late grandfather, Grandmaster Wang, Zi-Ping. In 2000, Sifu Emiko Hsuen flew to Malaysia to study with Grandmaster Wong Kiew Kit, who accepted her as a student of the Shaolin arts. There, she learned Shaolin Cosmos Chi Kung, the form of chi kung that she practices and teaches today.
Meditation
Sifu Emiko Hsuen began her training in meditation at age nineteen, under her first teacher, Lama Jetsun Yeshe. She was subsequently sent to study with other pre-eminent teachers such as Ven. Karma Thinley Rinpoche, Ven. Namgyal Rinpoche, Geshe Ngawang Kalden, Ven.Khenpo Sonam Rinpoche, Ven. Kiccanana, Lama Jetsun Kusho Chime Luding. She was trained concurrently in the Rosicrucian and Sufi traditions from 1991 to 2002.
Martial Arts
Some of Sifu Hsuen's past teachers include: Sifu Helen Xiao Rong Wu (granddaughter of the late Grandmaster Wang Zi-Ping - Taijiquan, Northern Shaolin Kungfu), Sifu Wenqi Li (former Canadian National Wushu Head Coach - Modern Wushu), Leslie Swan (Yip Man Wing Chun), Danny Xuan (Yip Man Wing Chun), Master Jae-Young Kwak (WTF - President of Taekwondo Australia Inc.)
N.B. The Shaolin Cosmos Chi Kung, Shaolin Kungfu and Wahnam Taijiquan that Sifu Hsuen teaches are non-religious and non-denominational.
